Introduction

Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) was approved to establish the Preparatory Office of Admissions by the Ministry of Education in 2007 BME formally established and enrolled in August 2008. Biomedical Engineering integrates physics, mathematics, engineering technology, biological technology and clinical medicine, forming a cross-field subject of biomedical and engineering. Besides biomedical, basic mathematics and science courses, BME‘s curriculum focus on "medical electronics and information" and "bio-mechanics and assistive device technology," supported by related courses of "bio-technology and tissue engineering" and "medical equipment safety regulations and certification." BME plans to establish five teaching laboratories (Medical Image & Medical Informatics Lab, Biomedical Electronics Lab, Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Lab, Biomedical Sensor Technology Lab and Medical Mechatronics Lab) used for students’ experiment operations, teachers’ researches and students’ implement. With a solid engineering implement and basic biomedical knowledge, BME cultivates students into medical engineering personnel for health institutions.   

To meet today's industrial development, BME cultivates medical equipment design and manufacturing and certification personnel, service-oriented medical engineering personnel for medical equipment integration. BME expects to meet the needs of current and future market.
